Several years ago, I was consulting with a large company in Philadelphia. They asked me to fly in for a meeting with their executives. When booking my flight, I had a check in my spirit. I asked The Lord what He wanted. In my best understanding I believe He was telling me to fly to Washington, DC and then take a train to Philadelphia. In obedience, I booked my flight to Washington and a train to Philadelphia. That's all I knew at that point.
As I disembarked the plane in Washington I had another check in my spirit. I asked The Lord what He wanted. In my best understanding I believe He was telling me to TAKE A WALK. I asked Him where. He said around the departments. I took that to mean to do a prayer walk to and around the main departments of the US government.
In obedience, I took a taxi to the Capital and started walking to and around the major institutions of the US government: the FBI, the Treasury, the Justice Department, US Health and Human Services, the Capital, the Pentagon, the Supreme Court, etc. At each location, according to Joshua 1:3, I stepped my feet on and around the building(s), claimed the institution for the Kingdom of God, anointed the institution's signage, and asked the Lord to bring a Godly leader to it. Surprisingly, I was able to walk into the Supreme Court building and to sit in the courtroom. I was nearly alone in the courtroom, and I had a very precious time with The Lord; pleading with Him to intervene and overturn Roe v Wade; the evil edict under which millions of infants have been murdered.
My prayer walk was just prior to Obama's inauguration. I knew he had intentionally appointed the most unGodly heads of the institutions of the US government in our history. I was praying in obedience and faith, but my expectation was dulled by the encroaching evil imposed by the incoming administration.
Today is President Trump's second inauguration. By the grace of God, Roe v Wade has been overturned, and as far as I can discern, the new incoming cabinet is the most Godly and God-fearing cabinet we may have ever had. Glory to God! Many people have been praying for our country and its return to Godliness. It is a privilege to pray for and to see the fruit of God's intervention for our country.
I have been led to "prayer walks" with and for God throughout my life. The Washington Walk was one. In another, God evicted the LGBTQ agenda from a major private school and replaced it with a Godly agenda. In another, God evicted evil leadership from a community sports program and brought Godly leadership. In another, God discombobulated the leadership of a large cult and opened a door for His invasion of the cult. In another, in Tallahassee, God moved in a presidential election, protected the Supreme Court of Florida from a terrorist, and opened doors for His Word to spread to the global media.
God moved Joshua to the most famous prayer walk of all time; the victorious battle of Jericho, where the walls of an evil city and culture fell at the feet of God's people as Joshua and God's people obeyed the unusual battle plan of walking around a city and shouting praise to God. When God promised to give Joshua every place where he set his foot, He wasn't kidding.
I don't know why God chooses to work through prayer walks. My sense is that it may have to do with being willing to spend some of our dignity in advancing His Name and Kingdom and Glory.
I believe God calls all of us into our own prayer walking ministries; setting our feet on our places of influence and the places He calls us, to pray over them and to proclaim them for the Kingdom of God; all in The Name of Jesus. They could be physical places, including our homes, our properties, our cubicles at work, our classrooms, our factories, our warehouses, our places of government, our schools, our cars, etc. They could also be our life situations that need to be prayer walked spiritually as we surround illnesses, broken relationships, addictions, impoverished finances, dysfunctional family lines, troubled marriages, demonic attacks, strongholds, etc., with God's Promise that He gives us every place where we set our feet and that we may trample on demonic serpents and scorpions who come against us; all in The Name of Jesus.
PRAYER
Abba Father. Thank You for your promise to give me the physical and spiritual places where I set my feet and where I trample on the influence of demonic spirits. Please call to my being all the places where I need to take those literal and spiritual walks. Thank You for those victories that I don't yet see. Amen in The Name of Jesus.
